Tottenham Hotspur team news, injuries and suspensions ahead of Dotmund fixture

A stunning 3-0 win in the first leg saw to that and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are afforded the luxury of not having to chase the game against the Bundesliga leaders.

However, they must also be wary of what has proved a prolific Dortmund attack at times this season and the manager’s team selection will surely reflect that.

Despite being overwhelming favourites to progress, Spurs are without a win in three games and were disjointed at best in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday.

Trippier, though, will not feature against Dortmund as he has not travelled with the squad, with Pochettino claiming he needed more time to recover after the north London derby.

Serge Aurier could now come in to the side to replace him, while Jan Vertonghen was impressive on the left of a back five in the first leg and Rose’s place in the side looks vulnerable.

Vertonghen scored one and assisted another against Dortmund from that position and Pochettino must surely be tempted to deploy him there again.

If the Belgian does move out to the left, that would probably mean Juan Foyth taking his place as one of the three centre-backs.

Eric Dier could be back from injury to provide competition in either defence or midfield after Pochettino confirmed he will travel to Germany.

Harry Winks is also back in contention but the pair are unlikely to start.

“We need to assess both. They are here because we still need one day more to assess if they can,” Pochettino said.

“Dier has been out for a while and maybe on the bench. Winks we need to see tomorrow.”

Elsewhere, Dele Alli was not fit to travel but he remains the only other injury worry.

Harry Kane should lead the line again as he continues to work his way back to full match-fitness.

He was partnered by Son Heung-min in attack against Arsenal but the manager could revert to a more conservative approach with the South Korean and Christian Eriksen supporting Kane from deeper positions.

Pochettino insists his selection will not be influenced by the fact they go into the clash with a huge lead.
