Shujaa in tough pool B for Vancouver 7s

Shujaa emerges 13th overall in the just concluded 2018/19 season

National Sevens Rugby team, Shujaa, has been pooled alongside former Champions Fiji, Samoa and hosts Canada, in the 6th Leg of the 2018/2019 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series set for next weekend in Vancouver, Canada.

Shujaa bowed out of the Las Vegas Sevens with five points, leaving them at the 13th position on the standings on 17 points.

After losing its first Pool matches to hosts USA and France in Day 1 in Las Vegas, Shujaa, under the tutelage of Paul Murunga, Shujaa redeemed itself with two successive wins in Day 2; a 24-19 victory against Argentina in its last pool match and a 28-15 triumph over Japan in the Challenge Trophy Quarter Final.

However, a 24-7 loss to Spain in the Challenge Trophy Semifinal saw Shujaa bow out of the tournament with five points to their name.

Shujaa will now focus on the Vancouver Sevens, where it shall kick off the campaign with a match against Fiji, before facing off against Samoa and hosts Canada.
