Drama as Machakos school expels girl for attending Uncle’s Funeral

Sengani student allegedly expelled for attending guardian's funeral

There is definitely something wrong with Kenyan secondary schools. Apart from hiking school fees, high school principals are now behaving like small gods terrorizing students and their poor parents.

Now a principal in Machakos county has expelled a form one student because she went to bury her uncle. What kind of mediocrity is that?

The incident happened at Sengani Secondary School in Kangundo, where the 15 year old girl was denied entry to class after attending the burial of her uncle, who was also paying her school fees.

More annoying is that the little girl had been issued with a leave-out form that allowed her to attend the family function.

Her father Evans Ombori said that he went to the school on February 12, 2019 and was allowed to leave with his daughter for the funeral that was slated for February 15, 2019.

The family is asking for the Ministry of Education to intervene.
