How “Mtu Wetu syndrome” has gained shape in Ruto’s camp

The Deputy President William Ruto can be termed as the one propagating the “Mtu Wetu Syndrome.”

Mtu Wetu Syndrome is where people tend to defend their people or their area when mentioned in some sort of “transgression.”

The 21 Billion Dam scandal in the Rift Valley has brought the country back to its roots where leaders talk in defense of their tribes.

Last week, the Deputy President termed the alleged lose of 21B as a flat lie. He even reiterated that the war is aimed at tainting the innocent lives especially from his back yard.

His allies have also picked up the tone attacking each and everyone including President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. Are they trying to defend theft of public resources?

“7B is not some small type of money you will walk and just pick on the road,” this are the comments from Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

As much as the figures look exaggerated according to DP Ruto’s camp the Investigative agencies should be given time and support to investigate. But DP Ruto allies are even attacking the Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti.

How will this war of fighting corruption if leaders defend their tribes with all the zeal instead of asking questions and demanding answers?

Leaders need to wake up, let the war against be tagged along tribal lines. Maybe the Deputy President should wear the national leader badge then his allies will follow suit.
