A section of Rift Valley and Western leaders now want President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve the government and call for fresh elections.
Speaking during a funds drive at AIC Kimoson Church in Kapseret Constituency, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi argued that the dissolution is necessary because of rampant corruption scandals witnessed in the Jubilee administration.
“The current fight against corruption by Kinoti is just witch-hunt orchestrated by some fewer leaders who don’t want Ruto to be president come 2022,” said the Kapseret Member of Parliament.
“President Kenyatta should come out and dissolve his government if he believes there is much corruption in his government and call for fresh elections to remove leaders who are corrupt and employ those who will drive the country forward,” added Barasa.
The two leaders at the same time warned opposition leader Raila Odinga against using the handshake to block Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid come 2022.
“I can ostensibly state that the handshake was meant to change Kenya’s Constitution through a referendum to suit the interest of the chosen few and is not for the honest goodwill of Kenyans,” said Sudi.
The two, however, called on Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti to be fair and just in his service to the country, adding that he should not allow himself to be used at the behest of the few.
