The embattled Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa is staring at losing her Parliamentary seat after being expelled from the opposition party Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Aisha Jumwa, has however indicated she will be moving to court to challenge decision by the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to expel her from the party.

Jumwa also made it known to her supporters that she is not ready to relinquish her seat as MP for Malindi constituency despite her removal from the ODM party through which she was elected.

In a sustained onslaught against the ODM party’s leadership following her expulsion, the outspoke Coast politician maintained her removal from the party was not done in accordance with the rules and regulations.

“We will move to court and file a petition as per the law and legal procedures. I would have probably relinquished my seat if the rules and regulations were followed,” Jumwa told her supporters in Malindi on Saturday.

Prior to her expulsion, the Malindi lawmaker had petitioned the ODM party’s disciplinary committee for recommending that she be kicked out of the party for supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambition. She argued the recommendation was made with disregard to the party’s Constitution and that it was based on allegations that were not supported by any law.

However, the party’s National Governing Council, which is the final decision making organ, on March 1, 2019, resolved to get rid of the rebel member as was recommended by the disciplinary committee.
