This, Citizen TV sports journalist Mike Okinyi knows perfectly well after landing a very lustrous government appointment.
Reports indicate that the tall TV presenter was appointed as the Media, Broadcast and Communication Director for the 2020 World Under 20 Athletics Championship.
The revered sports presenter was appointed by former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, days before he was fired. Okinyi’s appointment was made public through an official Gazette Notice on Saturday, March 2.
However, he is not the only journalist who ripped big in the appointments. Also, Sports Journalists’ Association of Kenya (SJAK) President Chris Mbaisi was appointed to be Okinyi’s deputy.
Others who were appointed as members of the IAAF WU20 Organizing Committee include Vincent Kaduki as Assistant Director, Transport, Douglas Wakihuri, Director Logistics, Mohamed Bashir Ibrahim as Assistant Director, Logistics, and Jared Nyakiba who was made Director, Medical and Ant-Doping, among others.
