Borussia Dortmund’s title chances suffered a hammer blow on Friday night after a shock 2-1 loss to Bundesliga strugglers Augsburg.
Dortmund came into the match with the chance of extending their lead at the top of the standings to six points against a side just two points above the relegation zone.
The home side took the lead against the run of play in the 24th minute when Dong-Won Ji fired the ball into the top left corner after Dortmund’s defense had failed to clear a loose ball in the box.

The South Korean was at it again in the 68th minute, this time going on a mazy run through the visitor’s backline before beating Roman Burki with a delightful chip.
Dortmund’s pressure finally paid off with about ten minutes of regular time to play when Paco Alcacer found himself unmarked inside the box and slotted a first-time shot past Gregor Kobel into the bottom right corner.
The goal was not enough as the hosts held on for a famous victory – their first ever home win against Dortmund.
