Shujaa to kick off USA 7’s against hosts

Blow to Kenya Sevens as Balala cancels sponsorship

The Kenya National Sevens Rugby team is set to kick off the 5th Leg of the 2018/19 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Las Vegas when they take on Hosts USA Saturday morning at 3.50 AM Local time.

A string of poor displays has left them at position 13 on the log on 12 points, a spot over the relegation zone.

The team picked one point in the first leg in Dubai, three in Cape Town, seven in Hamilton and one point in Sydney.

Shujaa will have all to play for in Las Vegas, if the team, under the tutelage of Head Coach Paul Murunga, is to turn their fortunes around in the 2018/19 season of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

The team will be without the services of 19 year old Johnstone Olindi of Homeboyz RFC due to visa issues.

However, notable inclusion in the side is forward Herman Humwa who returns after missing the Sydney and Hamilton legs.

Michael Agevi, who last played in 2014 under South Africa tactician Paul Treu, makes a comeback after five year hiatus alongside Homeboyz Rfc Charles Owino and Impala’s Edmund Anya.

Shujaa will later play France at 6.29am before wrapping up their group campaign against Argentina at 11.58am.

Kenya has been drawn in pool B with hosts USA, France and Argentina.
