Ahadi Kenya in partnership with Lotto Foundation and Beyond Zero campaign on Friday donated a mobile ambulance commonly known as ‘ambulance mashinani’ to Nakuru County under their initiative of ensuring improved health service delivery.
The ambulance is an innovative one from Tuk tuk motorbike and also driven with the help of a motorbike that is connected to the body of the ambulance.
The ambulance mashinani is able to access grassroots making it suitable for service delivery in rural areas.
Speaking at the County headquarters after handing over the ambulance to Nakuru County Deputy Director Daniel Wainaina, Ahadi Kenya Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stanley Kamau said the aim of the initiative is to ensure women in rural areas where the infrastructure is poor access health services.
“This ambulance mashinani core purpose is to ensure that people at grassroots level can access medical care in this country,” Kamau said.
He added that more than 39 ambulances have been distributed across the country.
He cited Kitui County as one of the counties that has been able to benefit from the services of the ambulance mashinani program owing to the rampant snakebite incidents in the area.
“Kitui is one of the counties that have really benefited owing to rampant cases of snakebites that if not treated on time can lead to death,” said Kamau.
