No Kenyan Is Above The Law

While speaking at the 7th State of Judiciary, President Kenyatta said no Kenyan is above the law and the judicial system should not be used to protect some individuals. The head of state said that a crook is a crook, whether in a Judge’s or an Advocate’s Robes and should not be treated any different from a crook in overalls to which the Chief Justice David Maraga affirmed to.

Uhuru further revealed that there is a growing feeling among Kenyans that some judicial officers and legal professionals are beyond the reach of the law. To back up his statement, the president said that only when the judiciary subjects itself to the same standards it expects from other Kenyans who are hungry to live in affair country where the rules apply to all, then they will continue having faith in the bench.

The President further warned the judiciary against unnecessary delays which continue to deprive Kenyans of the socio-economic development that they desire, he also asked the judiciary to prioritize cases involving government policies which should be determined with in clearly defined timelines but above all to desist from all kinds f corruption.
