Proposed trains will only serve their remaining half of 25yrs, then rest forever.

Kenya Railways has said that the trains it intends to buy from Spain have a lifespan of 25 years.

Given that the trains have been established to be as old as 25 years, the trains will therefore serve the remaining part of their life, and then take an infinite vacation.

The railways corporation said that the old trains are much cheaper and worthwhile.

While the move has been criticized by Kenyans, the railways board has defended the move saying that similar trains have been bought by first world countries such as France.

Kenya Railways also added that the trains will be deployed to areas like Kikuyu, Kitengela, Embakasi and among others where the board is looking to venture into.
