Turkana County has teamed up with Sweden (Borlänge Municipality) to work on a project that will benefit the local community as well as the refugees.
The Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok today welcomed a delegation from Borlänge Municipality, led by Deputy Mayor Mari Jonsson.
Nanok revealed that the visit is tied to partnership between Borlänge, Lodwar and planned Kakuma/Kalobeyei Municipality on implementation of integration programme of refugees and local community.
Just like Turkana, Borlänge Municipality has taken in a large number of refugees and look to develop a socio-economic integration programme.
The governor is confidence that both parties will benefit from the close partnership in developing of sustainable integration.
Nanok highlighted that the partnership with Borlänge Municipality provides a unique opportunity to share experiences, ideas, successes and challenges in the integration programme for both their governments and partners
