Moses Kuria’s Presidential Bid Continues to Face a Backlash in Central Kenya

Does Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria have what it takes to be Kenya’s next head of state?

Seen by many as a joker and some sort of rogue politician, Moses Kuria’s declaration that he will be on the ballot come 2022 does not look like a Joke. The outspoken lawmaker from Gatundu seem so hell bent on taking over from Uhuru Kenyatta and is in fact already putting in proper mechanisms to ensure he has a smooth transition after winning elections.

William Ruto’s allies have however not taken his declaration lying down flat. They have hit back at Kuria over his interest in the presidential race in 2022.

Speaking in Nyeri during the second death anniversary of the late Governor Nderitu Gachagua, Laikipia Women Rep Catherine Waruguru and Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga) joined Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu in telling off the outspoken off.

Ngirici asked anyone who had their eyes on the 2022 seat to shelve their ambitions until after 2032 when DP Ruto leaves office.

The leaders threw their weight behind the deputy president saying that the Mt. Kenya region would be supporting DP Ruto’s quest for the country’s top job.

Kuria dismissed the salvo of verbal attacks and said: “I’m not vying in your house, so keep off”
