A mother, 26-years old has been served with an eight-year correctional facility term after she conceded to have attempted to commit suicide and murder.

Kakamega judge Bildad Ochieng’ ignored the probation report suggesting her to be put on a non-custodial sentence for her mental healing.

Halima Sheillah Bwakali conceded to the charge of endeavoured homicide against her four-year-old child who got narrowly escaped death after his mom coerced him to drink poison.

The crimes were committed on December 23, 2018, at their home in Khwisero, Kakamega.

In his judgment, Judge Ochieng’ noticed that life is vital and it is the obligation of the court to secure the lives of nationals.
