The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) new CEO Twalib Mbarak has hit the ground running in his new role in a bid to combat graft that has engulfed the country.
Mbarak on Wednesday tabled a proposal to have the anti graft agency relocated to a spacious building where it can conveniently handle its diversified operations.
Appearing before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, Mbarak said, “The current space is too small for our current workforce. Mr Chairman, I invite your committee to pay us a visit and see for yourselves how squeezed we are.”
The body is currently based at The lucrative Integrity Center that was acquired in 1997 at a whooping Sh.1.5 Billion.
The committee will deliberate if the proposal can be considered in the next financial year 2019-20.
