Stinking revelation, why Nairobi stench will not end soon

Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko.

The stench in Nairobi town could be as a result of unqualified firms which are awarded tenders to clean the world class city.

Reports have revealed that Governor Mike Sonko awarded a two-year tender worth Ksh. 273 million to an undeserving garbage collection company.

While appearing before the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources on Tuesday, CEO of Aende Group Limited, Ms. Derrik Aende said her company was awarded the contract in August 2018, just two months after its inception and registration which was against the procurement laws.

Aende admitted that she had already received Ksh.25 million out of the 273 million and that her company wasn’t experienced in garbage collection.

When the committee asked the company’s boss to explain how they managed to acquire such a huge tender in spite of facing dire competition from five other established companies who had been shortlisted for the same but she could not answer.
