The battle line has been drawn. Amina Mohammed has said that she will use security forces to hunt down all HELB defaulters.
What Amina didn’t reveal is how much money will be used in this new partnership. Anyway, I have no problem with that.
My worry is what kind of policemen will be given this noble job. I don’t want to be hunted down by a class eight dropout who doesn’t even understand that HELB stands for Higher Education Loans Board.
Only policemen with degrees should hunt loan defaulters. At least we should be accorded that respect. We might be poor but we are learned and there should be lanes.

We know how Kenyan policemen treat university students with contempt. These people suffer from inferiority complex. They were poor in class and bribed their way into the disciplined forces.
These guys are now smiling ready to descend on loan defaulters with teargas.
I think a police officer who has repaid his HELB loan is the only one with moral authority to arrest me.
