Distress as bandit attack in Baringo South claims the lives of three students

Five people have been killed in a raid that befell Arabal Location, Baringo South on Wednesday. Among those that lost their lives are three secondary school students and two National Police Reservists.

William Koech, Arabal Location Chief, confirmed the incident saying the suspected bandits raided the village at around 3AM and committed the heinous act. According to the chief the children were home for midterm.

The raiders made away with unknown number of livestock. “Five people were killed among them three students and a two National Police Reservists. The raiders made away with unknown number of animals we are yet to establish the number,” said Chief Koech.

The raiders allegedly stole one rifle that belonged to one of the police reservists. Koech said tension is high in the area but General Service Unit officers have respondent to the incident.The chief called on locals to maintain peace as the security team pursue the killers.

“It is a sad moment here, we however call on the locals to maintain peace and allow the security team conduct investigations into the matter. The culprits must be brought to book,” he said. Vincent Ole Kosek, a resident said over three hundred cows have been stolen.In June 2017 one Kenya Defence Force soldier was killed and another one injured at Arabal. The soldiers were on their way from Komolion to Rugus when they were attacked at 9am.

Baringo County Administration Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa affirmed that his officers were at the scene attempting to restore peace.
