Iyembe village in Kimilili constituency, Bungoma county, are mourning the sudden demise of their colleague. According to the residents of the area there were The residents the deceased was issued death threats by he neighbour. Now the other residents are living in fear.
The woman is said to have died while on the way to hospital. According to K24, the deceased, Adinai Nafula, was said to have reported her neighbour to the village elders accusing her of beating up her children and stealing her chicken. The accused was summoned by the village elders and she was fined KSh 5,000 which she paid but promised Nafula of dire consequences.
“They had their issues, they came and we settled on KSh 5,000 to be paid as fine after we found the accused guilty, she paid the money but told Nafula she would not finish using that money,” said one of the village elders.
“Around 10 pm is when trouble started after the neighbour visited our home and started threatening my wife,” said the deceased’s husband. On Monday, February 18, Nafula started complaining of pain while cooking lunch and before she could eat it, she fell down and fainted. Neighbours who arrived at her home rushed her to hospital but she died on the way.
The neighbour is said to have ran away after she heard the news about Nafula’s death. Angry residents descended on her house and set in on fire. The deceased’s husband appealed to the police to help trace the culprit for justice to be served.
