Mike Sonko wows the world with his speech at the UN conference! Kenyans react

The UN has selected Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to lead African Cities in the General Assembly conference in New York next week. Sonko is the only African leader who addressed the conference which was jointly organized by the Office of the President of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN.

The conference focused on the roles of cities in the global agenda, was held on February 19 in New York, United States. The office of the President of the 73rd session of the General Assembly, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, said the purpose of the event is to address global challenges from a local perspective.

The news that one of Kenya’s leaders would represent Africa at the UN conference has induced so much national pride and was well received as multitudes excitedly took to twitter to share the news and proceedings under hashtag #SonkoAtUNconference.
