How much would it cost Chelsea to sack Sarri? Details here…

Maurizio Sarri looks to be a dead man walking

Sacking managers is very expensive. Just ask Chelsea who have spent a staggering amount giving gaffers the boot in the Roman Abramovich era, and the Russian could soon be set to open up his wallet yet again with the club’s current incumbent, Maurizio Sarri, under immense pressure at the moment.

However, it looks like the Italian, who appears to be a dead manager walking, will remain in the Chelsea dugout for tomorrow’s match at home to Malmo FF, and Sunday’s League Cup Final against Man City.

But, it could then be curtains for Sarri if he doesn’t leave Wembley with the trophy in hand, as reported by The Mirror.

How much would it cost Chelsea to sack the former Napoli boss?

Not as much as you might think. Man Utd recently splashed out £15million to axe Jose Mourinho, who previously received a stonking £18m the first time he was axed by Chelsea, and a cushty £9.5m last time out.

As it turns out Chelsea would ‘only’ have to pay £5m to sack Sarri – the cheapest pay-off under Abramovic, as reported by The Sun.

Sarri is under contract until 2021, but the publication states that Chelsea’s policy means the club would only have to shell out one year’s salary to their boss, should they opt to dispose of his services.

Chelsea have reportedly already identified two potential replacements for Sarri in Frank Lampard and Zinedine Zidane. Lampard would cost them as they’d have to pay compensation to Derby, while Zidane is out of work. Meanwhile, assistant Gianfranco Zola could be upgraded to the hotseat as emergency cover through to the summer.
