Kenyan Hip Hop artist King Kaka has weighed in on the disturbing condition of girls engaging in ‘Sex For Pads’
The artist has called upon Kenyans to make pads a basic need and at the same time help where they can to make sure that pads are easily accessible to Kenyan girls.
In some regions, school going girls are forced to engage in sex in exchange of pads. Something that is indeed heart breaking despite the free pads program that the government implemented in public schools.
Despite the efforts by the government and some of the organizations and well wishers, some are still going through this challenge.
King Kaka says that he met a girl in class 6 (12yrs) who said that she is in a sexual relationship with a Boda Boda guy who is married but purely for pads and in turn she has encouraged other girls to follow the trend.
He also added that 70% of girls in rural areas miss school during their menstrual window.
Under the initiative BankonmeKe , King Kaka is directly involved in ensuring that the girls facing such challenges are rescued and kept in school.
Kaka mentioned that banking on these girls means banking on their future.
