A Crime That Attracted Mercy Instead of Punishment

 Sneaking a patient out of hospital is a punishable offense and everyone who commits such a crime is charged an attempt to defraud the hospital.

However, when Boniface Murage wagenci appeared in court on Monday 18, 2019 and charged of attempting to smuggle her daughter from the facility, Citizens went to social media and expressed a lot of emotions towards him.

We all know when you plead guilty in a court of law you are bound to get an imprisonment sentence or a cash bail. However, Boniface Murage pleaded guilty of the offence and cited that he was not in a position to clear the bill and his actions were to save his family.

Nevertheless, he did not get any of the above punishment but instead, the court handed Boniface Murage Wangechi a 3-month suspended sentence on Tuesday morning. The guy is expected to unite with his wife and baby.

Murages wife shopping with Sonko Rescue Team

Hours before Murage was released, The Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had Paid the hospital bill and spoiled his wife with shopping for her and the baby.

CNN journalist Larry Madowo has promised to provide him a lawyer.

An AP officer heard the story and was touched. He removed to KNH to pay the bill but found that Mike Sonko had already settled it.  However, He gave Boniface the cash anyway.

For 3 the months, Murage will be under state and is expected not to commit any other offence. If he does, he will be put on custodial sentence.

The court was told that Murage digs trenches in Rongai to provide for the family and his wife is jobless.

The 22-year-old had been charged that on February 16, 2019, he attempted to escape with a one-month-old baby girl in an attempt to defraud Kenyatta National Hospital.

KNH security guards intercepted the man as he was leaving the facility and asked him to open his blue carrier bag but he refused.

They forcefully opened it and found a baby inside. Investigations later revealed that the baby was admitted to KNH and the father could not afford to pay the hospital bill accrued after admission.
