Even after the Deputy President William Ruto warned his allies not to engaged into early campaigns seems like the Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is not ready to stop it.
According to Waititu, we now need to vote for what Waititu termed as a poor man’s son as the next president of Kenya.
While speaking during a church service and a fundraiser in Kakamega, “We have decided that we are going to be with the son of the poor. We will support him and make sure he leads the country in 2022.”
He had accompanied DP Ruto and other leaders in Kakamega while he pledged support for Mr.Ruto saying he is capable of leading the country after president Kenyatta.
Most leaders at the function appeared to support Mr.Ruto’s position on referendum calls saying it should not be carried out on grounds of creating extra posts and barring people like the deputy president from running for the presidency.
They further added that dynasties should pave way for the sons of the poor to be given a chance to lead.
The move was contrary to the directive issued by president Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga who have been calling on leaders to avoid early campaigns as it was time to deliver to the electorate on pledges made during the last campaigns.
