End Border Clashes! Boinnet Orders Rift Valley Police

Turkana-West Pokot border clashes have continued to soar high while people continue to lose lives to the primitive tribal commotions.

On Saturday, Bandits launched an attack at the border that led to death of six and another attack on Sunday where three people died.

Inspector General Boinnet, response to the attacks, ordered the Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Edward Mwamburi to use all available resources to stop the violence through a press statement released on Monday 18, 2019.

In the statement, the police boss stated “use all available Police resources to stop the violence and restore order to allow members of the public to lead normal lives.”

The police boss also advised locals to collaborate with the Police to ensure the rustlers and bandits are driven out the sake of their own safety.

“The RPC further ordered to step up investigations into the role of certain identified individuals who are suspected of provoking violence in the area, and bring them to book in accordance with the law,” added the statement.

For the last three days, the picture at Kainuk has been of gunfire chartering the air day and night as police officers exchange gunfire with bandits on the run. Businesses have also been paralyzed following the clashes.

Area residents have since blamed their neighboring community for what they termed as nonstop theft of their livestock.
