The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied claims that it was investigating Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for drug trafficking.
In a statement, DCI explained that the letter which has been doing rounds online claiming that Joho was being sought by Interpol was fake.
The forged letter had listed the second-term governor as one of the people who were being pursued by the international agency for their involvement in the illicit trade.
However, it is now clear that nothing could be further from the truth after the recent revelation.
DCI stated that Interpol had confirmed that the letter was fake through their legal affairs office.
Joho was further advised to seek legal redress against the people who were out to malign his name.
