Stare into the jaws of a crocodile and it might be the last thing you see. Their formidable jaws can snap our bones like twigs.

At homeland, a crocodile from River Kuja has gathered a reputation of terrorizing residents of Osiri in Nyatike Sub-County so much that they now demand that the Kenya Wild Life remove it.

The locals reveal some of them have been bitten while others have survived attacks from the reptile in the past few weeks while fetching water at the said river.

Pascal Odhiambo, one of the locals, said they have been forced to look for alternative sources of water because of the threat posed by the crocodile; a task he says has proven impossible as River.

Kuja is reportedly the only water source in the region.

Mr. Odhiambo added that the crocodile killed one of the locals a year ago and left others injured and nursing bite marks when they went to fetch water at River Kuja.

The locals now want relevant authorizes to expeditiously deal with the reptile and prevent any such future incidences.

In Africa alone there are several hundred crocodile attacks on humans per year. Many take place in small communities and are not widely reported. Between a third to half are fatal, depending on the species.

They are far more common than shark attacks and yet do not receive as much media coverage.
