Chances are high you have at one time found yourself in a WhatsApp group which you don’t want to be in. Worse still, you may have encountered situations where you are promptly re-added back even after “lefting” these groups.
Not anymore.
Reject Unsolicited group Invites
WhatsApp now has a new feature that puts the power in your hands. With its latest update, users will be able to regulate how they join whatsApp group chats.
The ‘Group Invitation’ feature will allow users to control who is allowed to add them to groups.
The update was reported by WABetaInfo on Tuesday, but is currently only available to iOS beta testers.
How to Reject Group Invites
When the feature is rolled out in the future, you’ll access it by going to Settings > Account > Privacy and you’ll see it as part of the options.
The ‘Group’ option will allow you to let either Everyone, My Contacts or no one to add you to groups.
What the three options permit
Everyone
When you choose the ‘Everyone’ option, you pretty much remain in your current state where people could still add you to groups without your consent.
My Contacts
With this option, only those people you have their numbers saved in your phonebook will be able to add you into WhatsApp groups.
Nobody
When you set the option “nobody”, you will have the option to vet just about everyone who invites you to join a group.
This option gives you much control over what previously was a grey area
