DP Ruto mourns man who raised President Uhuru

Deputy President William Ruto attended the burial of former President Daniel Moi’s longest serving security man, Leonard Yator (Chomber) in Chuiyat Village Tulwet, Uasin Gishu County.

While speaking at the funeral the DP eulogized the deceased as a diligent officer who was not only patriotic but also committed to his duties.

In addition to his statement he said, “Leonard Yator was a dutiful, selfless and meticulous officer, who served his country with pride and distinction. He was forthright, firm and carried out his duties with certainty and unerring precision. Yator was a devout family man and generous spirit, much loved by all.”

Yator served the retired president for 48 years in the security field before he chose to retire.

He was once Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s aid-de-camp where he tasked with dropping the current Head of State to and from school, a duty he undertook with passion.

His commitment won him admiration from all quarters. He will be remembered for the great role he played in the security department before he chose to retire from the service.
