Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has denied claims that detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission raided his homes and office.
The earlier reports had indicated that the raids were conducted last Monday in the CS’s Nairobi office and his homes in Nairobi, Vipingo in Kilifi, and Mombasa where crucial documents were recovered.
The reports continue that the CS was being investigated for allegedly awarding a Sh100 million contract, through single sourcing, to a local company to offer unspecified services during expos held in Nairobi two years ago.
Balala used his Twitter handle to trash the reports and hinted that he may consider suing the media as more Kenyans joined him in condemning the reports (trending under #TheStandardFakeNews)
@tunajibu has cleared the air amid rumors from Media that neither his house nor office has been raided by the @EACCKenya officers, we condemn in the strongest terms possible the norm of media rushing to spread rumors before finding solid, tangible information#TheStandardFakeNews pic.twitter.com/uidnkapTTV
