Lawyer Cliff Ombeta, a man who deems criminals guilty until they are proven guilty is undoubtedly one of Kenya’s best criminal lawyers.
It is infact a crime to name Kenyan top lawyers and fail to mention Lawyer Cliff Ombeta’s name, a grave crime at that.
Ombeta is not your ordinary criminal lawyer. The guy is super good and knows the rules of the game.
I guess it is for this reason that many high profile criminal cases in the Country always have to have him in the mix.
From defending the Akasha brothers from facing extradition to representing Migori Governor Okoth Obado in a high profile murder case, Ombeta is surely a man that likes swiming in wild waters.
Ombeta, as if not tired of defending people accused of shedding blood has again taken up another high profile murder case and this time he has travelled all the way to Kiambu.
Ombeta is representing Judy Wangui, a woman accused of killing businesswoman Mary Wangui.
Wangui, who yesterday appeared in court alongside his co-accused Joseph Kori, husband to the late Wambui accused the police of putting pepper in her private parts..
Wangui, through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, told Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo that she was tortured at Juja police station.
She said two policewomen assaulted her on Friday night.
The court heard that the suspect has marks on her thighs and the upper part of her body. Atambo ordered a report on the assault allegations to be submitted in the next mention date.
It still remains unclear as to whether Wangui’s claims are true or false but one thing that is certain is that she will not go down without legal guru Cliff Ombeta putting in a mega fight to save her.
Ombeta is also the legal representative to Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, the man at the center of the murder of the late Monica Kimani.
