Kori’s children leave him in tears

Joseph Kori burst out in tears after his lawyers pleaded for his release so that he could reconnect with his children; ”There are no grounds for holding our client for a further 14 days. I wish to highlight the family issues. His kids are out of school and haven’t seen their father for the last 16 days. He needs to be released.” He also pleaded that Kori should be released based on the exonerating evidence that the police had received in the course of the investigation.

The prosecution has asked to be allowed for two more weeks to complete their investigations which have so far shown Kori was not at the scene of the murder. The rest of the suspects, Wangui and Githae, remain unfazed as the defense lawyers went on with their submissions.

Joseph Kori was arrested after being suspected of participated in the murder of his wife Mary Wambui Kamangara with his ‘mpango wa kando’ Wangui.

A motorist suspected of helping dispose of Ms. Kamangara’s body in a dam in Juja, Kiambu County, was also arrested but the narrative has changed, with police now saying Kori was nowhere near the murder scene. They also say his car was not captured on the CCTV footage from Fourways Junction that they have reviewed. The detectives said; ”Based on his mobile phone records and his car-tracking device, he was in Ngong on the day of the murder and left at 9pm, when he drove back to Roysambu. He was never at Fourways Junction.”

However, detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the phone and the car were being controlled by a third party at the time to create an alibi for Kori. Investigations are still going on.
