The family and close friends of the late Caroline Mwatha, a widely-recognized Dandora activist, are seeking an independent autopsy after her body was discovered at the City Mortuary.
This comes after the family refused to accept claims that she died as a result of an abortion gone wrong!
In fact, her father, Stanslous Mbai, strongly believes that there was no reason for Mbai to procure an abortion considering she was happily married and had children to look after.
In a statement to the press, Mbai addressed the claims by the police that his daughter died while seeking an abortion as far-fetched!
Even if his daughter was pregnant, there was no way she would have thought of an abortion considering her Christian background and her strong love for children.
Nevertheless, police divulged information on a man, whom they believed to have been Mwatha’s boyfriend, as one of the six suspects currently in custody and said to be tied to the mysterious disappearance and death of Mwatha.
That being said, Mwatha’s husband, Joshua Ochieng, has called for thorough investigations to be done because of all the inconsistencies with the police accounts provided.
According to husband Ochieng, his brother-in-law called him into the country to search for the body after her disappearance.
When they discovered the body at the City Mortuary, it was registered under the name Caroline Mbeki via suspicious circumstances.
Several activists have come forward in support of the family and to further seek justice for the death of Caroline.
Indeed, some puzzling questions have yet to be answered. For example, the family claims that Caroline had deep cuts on her thighs, a strong indication that she might have been tortured before being killed.
