Marsabit leaders served at Muddy Waters Smokehouse & BBQ for free

I’m sure you’d agree that ready access to clean, drinkable water is one of the biggest challenges that vexes Marsabit County.

In January, 147 camels died after drinking contaminated water in Karare and Elehadi villages in Marsabit North Horr sub-county.

Residents of Karare area in Marsabit County have discovered a better way with dealing with leaders who take them for a ride and deny them important amenities.

The locals decided they had had enough with their leaders prioritising the wrong things while ignoring the more serious and critical aspects.

Local leaders had called the locals for a meeting to drum up support to establish a municipality in the county but they were in for a surprise.

The locals showed up with bottles of muddy water and placed them on the “high table” where the dignitaries were to occupy during the meeting.

This was not disrespect, it was a protest served cold. The locals said they had decided on the move as a way of showing their displeasure on water contamination and shortage in the area.

“Our problem is water, not a municipality,” the residents told the visiting delegation.
