Chelsea boss in darkness as he awaits Abramovich phone call

Under fire, Chelsea boss admitted that he does not know what to expect from the club owner Roman Abramovich after their record loss to Manchester City on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Sarri said he expects to hold talks with the club’s board after their historic loss and in another post-match interview he gave an insight into his relationship with Abramovich.

“If the president calls, I’ll be happy, seeing as I never hear from him. To be honest, I don’t know what to expect. Manchester City plays a fantastic football and I saw an extraordinary team. We had a total blackout,” Sarri said to Sky Sports Italia.

Sarri, however, was adamant that he was not about to change the club’s style of play despite the pressure he has been under in recent weeks.

“At the beginning [of the season] it worked. So now we need only to understand the reasons why at the moment it isn’t working. Something is changing. I am not able to see the reason but we have to work for this. My target is to play my football, not to change [to] another football because at the moment we are playing another football,” he said.

Chelsea has conceded 12 goals in their last three Premier League away games, their battering at new league leaders City coming on the heels of a 4-0 thumping at mid-table Bournemouth.

Sergio Aguero scored his 11th Premier League hat-trick to equal Alan Shearer’s record, with Raheem Sterling adding a double and Ilkay Gundogan also on target in Sunday’s rout at the Etihad Stadium.
