Nakuru county is on the spot afterit was discovered that at least 41 street children claimed county enforcement officers rounded them up and dumped them in Chemusus Forest in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County on Wednesday night.
The young boys said they were arrested in a swoop in Nakuru town on Wednesday evening before they were ferried.
“We spent the night in the cold before Good Samaritans rescued us and gave us food on Thursday morning,” said one of the children.
They claimed that county officials harassed them after accusing them of dirtying the town and terrorising residents.
The street urchins aged between 12 and 26 years also said the officers told them the county government was taking them to school before bundling them into waiting vehicles.
Imagine a normal person fueling government vehicle, then go around and gather street children, drive them from Nakuru all the way to Baringo and dump them in the forest. Nakuru county governor @GovLeeKinyanjui if this is your handle, you are a disgrace to humanity.
