Do men buy sanitary towels for their girlfriends/ wives/ female friends?
Kenyan men have today shared their experiences on buying sanitary towels for their spouses and female friends.
The conversation was triggered by a question that was posed with a top journalist Ciru Muriuki.
Sometimes the perceptions surrounding sanitary towels/ menstruation is usually shelled to be some kind of conversation that only women would have.
However the knowledge and understanding of what the girl child goes through and realizing that sanitary towels also count among the ‘basic needs’ is important for both men and women.
Ladies also get embarrassed to openly speak about it in the presence of their male friends and would describe it as an awkward situation if you have no option but to disclose some details about it.
Most men on twitter had absolutely no problem with the idea of buying sanitary towels and some even narrated that they have been doing it.
The first experience however might have not been all rosy for some men as some shared the frustration of knowing their ladies preference.
Does your lady use tampons or the winged pads?
Of course yes! I remember the first time I did it- I had no clue which size my wife used so I had to describe my wives body size (using gestures to describe her curves, as if that mattered?) to the supermarket attendant and she adviced accordingly ??.

I feel you … I had to take pictures of the label and type she uses just for future purposes pic.twitter.com/JkII3YRC2X

How different is a sanitary towel from food! Both are basic needs! So with pride, I buy for the queen and all other princesses (sisters and cousins)

I would buy my significant other tampons. Her sisters, her cousins, her mother and even throw on her grandmother as bonus. No shame in that.

I have done that many times over and it is never something I’d think twice about. Unless we’re in harmony with nature as God created it, we are not living. This is 2019 and not 1918. We understand our world better and our worldview should’ve reflected in how we relate with nature
