4 arrested as Government Drugs are found in private Clinics

Police officers arrest four people in Machakos county, after being suspected of stealing drugs and laboratory equipment from Machakos Level 5 Hospital.

The four individuals operating private clinics in the county, were found selling assortment of drugs bearing  Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) stamps and Government of Kenya (GOK), and other medical items.

Lugpharm and Metropolis are the affected private clinics both located directly opposite Machakos level 5 hospital.

 

Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and County Directorate of Criminal Investigations head, were among the team that ordered that the private clinics to close down, as Medical staff operating in the clinic experienced a rough moment trying to explain the source of the drugs found in their working space.

The Governor promised to follow up the the case till justice is served, as he ordered the patients who had come to vacate the premises.

As a fulfilment of his promise, Dr. Mutua proceeded to Machakos level 5 Hospital, where he ordered that no patient should be referred to private clinics which help to carry more investigation of the ongoing scandal.

 

“We have found X-ray equipment from Level 5 Hospital and government drugs in a private clinic and people claim that Universal Health Care doesn’t work because there are no drugs,” said the Governor.

It is said that Detectives have an ongoing operation, which will help the trace employees from the clinics who went missing during the operation.
