Egypt May become The Next HollyWood, This is How

The US embassy to Egypt in Cairo will be working together with Egypt’s creative arts to revamp the film industry through screen writing. The US Emabssy is set to bringing american screenwriters to ‘writers’room’event in Egypt. this event is looking to promote and build the screenwriting which will in turn improve the quality of the writing in films. The US Embassy have embarked on this initiative in support for Egypt’s creative arts industry.

This comes after  the US Embassy made a collaboration with the Middle East initiative (MEMI) and the Egyptian script development and screenwriters hub last month. This is a Birthmark Scenario to conduct a week long series of workshops for television scriptwriters. These workshops provided Egyptian screenwriters with face-to-face access to expert American screenwriters in order to exchange ideas and to learn about the “Writers’ Room” format widely used in the US television industry.

This initiative is part of the Embassy’s support for Egypt’s creative arts industries and the next generation of promising Egyptian screenwriters. With great history and stories of Egypt and  together with the world class screen writers provided by the super power of movies Egypt will have moved a level up, meaning that there will be more channels of revenue collection as well as new employment opportunity that will increase the country’s GDP if they will be able to catch up fast.

“This workshop opportunity offered established and emerging Egyptian TV writers and producers valuable tools to develop and sell Egyptian stories in the global TV marketplace.” said Deana Nassar, MEMI program director. The initiative also aims to create deep and lasting professional connections between the creative arts communities of both countries.

The Middle East Media Initiative (MEMI) is a program supported by the US Department of State in cooperation with the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. MEMI produces trainings and creative collaborations between TV, media, and digital professionals in the US and the Middle East. MEMI brings leading and emerging Egyptian producers and screenwriters to the US for script development workshops, masterclasses with top American TV showrunners, and job shadowing opportunities on American TV shows.
