Suspect who ferried body of Mary Wambui Arrested

Detectives arrest suspect who ferried body of Mary Wambui

Detectives investigating the murder of Kiambu business woman, Mary Wambui believe they might have made a major breakthrough into the homicide case. This was after they arrested and detained a taxi driver believed to have been hired by Wambui’s killers to ferry her injured body to a dam in Juja where it was discovered.

The driver is said to have ferried the Wambui’s body using a Toyota Noah which the police are yet to locate its whereabouts, Daily Nation reported on Tuesday, February 5. According to the report, the drive, who is believed will shade some light into the brutal murder of Wambui, was lured into police trap on Monday, February 4. “After checking in at Four Ways, his movements showed that he left and went directly to Juja, where he left at 2am, and was in constant communication with Judy,” a detective privy to the investigations said.

The driver is also said to have hired another car to Judy Wangui, key suspect in the murder, which she used to drive to Wambui’s home but later left it at Homeland Inn after it failed to start. They later drove together to Wangui’s home in Fourways Estate using Wambui’s Mercedes Benz car after spending better part of the day together and later killed her while at her residence.

The police are still looking for another taxi driver, who is said to have rejected the offer to ferry the body after he was approached by Wangui. The report also indicated police records showed the deceased husband, Joseph Kori, might not have been at the crime scene when Wambui was murdered in January 26, 2019. It was earlier reported Wambui’s body was discovered day after she was murdered and her husband informed her family that she had been kidnapped.

Wambui’s husband, Joseph Kori, was later arrested alongside Judy Wangui after blood stained clothes were found in her house and will be subjected to DNA test.

WhatsApp messages between Wambui and her husband Kori later surfaced showing the two were not in good terms before she met her untimely death. In the messages, he sent her screenshots of other women who were telling him his wife was not faithful in her marriage. In one of the screenshots, one Janet Akinyi claimed late Wambui was a “prostitute” in Nakuru before she later moved to Nairobi where she continued doing her business.
