Please Help! Homeless Kenyan man in England begs for help to enable him return home

Homeless Kenyan man in England appeals for help to enable him return home to Machakos

One of the misconceptions many Africans, especially Kenyans, have is that, travelling oversees automatically equates to better, luxurious life with very little hard work. Well for some, through hard work and sacrifices, these dreams are achieved but unfortunately for others, it becomes a nightmare and end up wishing they could come back home.

One of these category of Kenyans living abroad is Dan Mutugi who migrated to the United Kingdom (UK) in the year 1992 but now wants to come back home after things went south for him. In a Facebook video shared by Bancy Wairimu Mbui, a fellow Kenyan living in UK, Mutugi does not have the necessary documents to enable him to travel back home after he lost his passport.

“This guy is a Kenyan based in UK, Luton to be specific, I cry to Uhuru and his government to help him to go back home as he is leaving on the street begging, it is really sad,” wrote Mbui .

According to Mbui, Mutugi who attests to having engaged in drug abuse but has since stopped, now lives on the streets and survives by begging from passersby like her.

“I am Dan Mutungi from Machakos, my mother is not alive but my father is in Kenya living in Machakos, I came here in 1992 and I have never gone back home,” says Mutugi. “In five years, I have not used any drugs,” he added

Mbui is now asking relevant authorities to help Mutugi who is seen in the video asking for a place to sleep and food to eat to help him return back home to his family. Although it is not clear how Mutugi ended up in the UK, it is clear with the current chilly weather in UK, the only thing he wants is a place to sleep and food to eat.
