Arsenal ‘believe they have the edge in the race to sign wantaway Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot’. The Gunners are keeping an eye on the 23-year-old, according to The Mirror.
The France international has been training with the Under 23s for the past month at the Ligue 1 outfit. Unai Emery coached Rabiot for two years as PSG boss before departing the French capital for Arsenal at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Arsene Wenger’s successor is an admirer of Rabiot and would be in favour of being reunited in London, but knows securing his signature will be difficult. Barcelona have held talks with the 23-year-old about moving to the Nou Camp when his current deal expires in the summer.
The Spanish club signed Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong for £65million in the January transfer window, who will join at the beginning of next season. As a result Barcelona’s interest in Rabiot has subsided for the time being. Premier League leaders Liverpool and rivals Tottenham are also interested in recruiting him, but Emery believes he will have the advantage in negotiations with his former player.
