Arsenal provide injury update on key defenders ahead Man City clash

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has provided an injury update on Laurent Koscielny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Hector Bellerin and Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of the Manchester City clash on Sunday 3rd February.

With Laurent Koscielny suffering an injury to his jaw in the 1-3 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup, the Frenchman could return in the clash against City after returning to training. Hector Bellerin suffered a knee injury in the 2-0 win over Chelsea and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

In a press conference ahead of the Manchester City clash, Emery provided an injury update on the quartet, “(Bellerin) It’s a big injury and a long time, this season is impossible. When it’s an injury like that, the timing is first to be calm, the player [can be] with family and then have the operation. When they start to train and recover, or work here with the physios, that’s the moment you look at their progress. Usually, with an injury like that, it’s six to eight months out.

“(Koscielny) He trained today and we are positive with him. (Maitland-Niles) Today he didn’t train but we will look tomorrow. (Mkhitaryan) He started to train with us today and he’s training normally. He is with us now.”
