Will Kenya as a country finally be able to win the war on terrorism?
When a Nairobi Court last month let go of an Al-Shabaab suspect suspected to have had a hand in the Westgate attack, Kenyans went wild with some even claiming that the Kenyan Courts were becoming breading grounds for terrorists.
Just a day after the suspect was released, an attack on Dusit D2 Hotel was executed with 21 people going on to loose their lives.
This angered Kenyans even more with many of them taking to social media to air their displeasure with the manner in which cases with great magnitude such as those involving terrorist attacks are handled.
Now today, a Court in Eldoret has entenced a man to 15 years in jail after he was found guilty of being an al Shabaab member.
Chief magistrate Charles Obulutsa said Ramadhan Adam Athman was found in possession of a mobile
phone with videos, images and articles on terrorism.
Athman was found in possession of the material in Kipkaren area, Uasin Gishu county, on June 16, 2016.
He was also found guilty of being in possession of bhang.
“The prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt that you were a member of the outlawed terror group and hereby sentences you to serve 15 years in jail,” Obulutsa said.
Athman had denied the charges.
