Celtic have completed three transfer deadline day deals.

The first is Borussia Dortmund full back Jeremy Toljan. The 24-year-old has yet to feature for the German club’s first team this season and joins the Hoops on loan until the end of the season.

“This is an exciting move for me and I’m delighted to be joining a club like Celtic, which has a great reputation throughout Europe,” he said. “I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and working with the manager, and I’ll be doing everything I can to help the team to be successful in the remainder of this season. I can’t wait to get started and give all I can for this great, iconic club.”

Celtic have wrapped up the transfer of Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved from Karpaty Lviv with the 21-year-old loaned back to his current club for the rest of the season.

The club have also signed American defenders Manny Perez and former Rangers trialist Andrew Gutman. The defenders, 19 and 22 respectively, will be loaned back to teams in the USA. Perez currently plays for North Carolina State University, while Gutman is at Indiana Hoosiers.

Going the other direction, Lewis Morgan has joined Sunderland on loan. The 22-year-old Scotland international, who played for manager Jack Ross during his time at St Mirren, will be thrust into the thick of the Black Cats’ bid for promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship.

Morgan said: “I’m joining coaching staff I’ve worked with before, and once I got the opportunity to speak with them, my decision was made. My game is based around scoring and creating goals, but I obviously also try to work hard for the team, and that is the most important thing. Something special is happening at the club this season and hopefully I can contribute to that.”

However, an ankle injury for Celtic’s Filip Benkovic – which rules him out for at least a month – could scupper a potential loan move for Jack Hendry.
