Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has responded to the claims that Nairobi residents wanted to file a petition claiming he is unfit to hold office after the bhang confession.
Last week, the governor had revealed on live TV that he used to smoke bhang with Kiambu Governor Waititu.
However he cleared the air saying that it was a habit of the past and he stopped smoking.
Sonko’s response comes after a publication by Kahawa Tungu which mentioned that Nairobi residents planned on filing a petition against him.
The Governor stated that he is not ashamed of his past and he is not the only leader that has ever spoken publicly about such

Infact they should know 3 months ago I was invited as a speaker at a workshop on GOOD GOVERNANCE, INTERGRITY, CRIME & ANTI-CORRUPTION at the UN headquarters and I spoke my heart in presence of over 10 ambassadors and youths drawn from all over the country and the whole world was watching live on all the international tv stations.
Still I will repeat this testimony in an open court. So the few busybodies who think they can use that to blackmail me by filling a petition in court so that I call them to withdraw the case can go to hell washenzii kabisa, Nonsence.
Nairobi has 7,000,000 residents. Your past should not affect your future in anyway continue believing in God no matter what situation you are currently in. The Past is Dead the Current and Future is what counts in Life.
In United States Of America ?? Over 10 Past President’s have confessed to having Smoked Marijuana (Bhang). To name a few Baraka Obama, Bill Clinton, George W Bush, J.F.Kennedy, James Monroe, George Washington among others; yet they all served successfully as US President’s.
Closer Home in Africa we have Great Leaders such as Nelson Mandela who was in prison he bacame South African President. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was in Prison he became the President of Kenya. Raila Odinga was in Prison he became the Prime Minister of Kenya. Uhuru Kenyatta was conceived in Prison and he became the 4th President of Kenya. I was in Prison I became the first Senator and second Governor of this great city.
