Arsenal have agreed a deal with Barcelona to take the Spaniard on loan until the end of the season.
It’s understood the Gunners have the option to pay Barca £20million to permanently acquire his services in the summer.
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde last night confirmed the deal is on the brink of being finalised.
“I know Denis was in this situation. It’s not official yet and we have to wait a little,” Valverde said.
“It was a possibility that everyone valued, and we hope that things go well.”

Suarez, 25, has flown to London to put the finishing touches on his move to the Emirates.
It’s understood the Spain international will undergo a medical at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground later today.
Suarez’s move to the Emirates will see him reunited with his old manager, Unai Emery, who coached him during his spell with Sevilla.
The former Manchester City ace made 46 appearances for Los Hispalenses in the 2014-15 season, in which he scored six goals and picked five assists.
Although Barcelona have all but confirmed Suarez’s exit, Arsenal chief Emery is remaining coy on the deal.
“There’s no change in my idea, I think the same,” Emery said after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Cardiff on Tuesday. “If some players can come here to help us, they will come.
“The latest news? I don’t know. Today all my focus has been on this match.
“I’ve not spoken with anyone at the club who is working on that.
“Maybe tonight or tomorrow, I will speak about the latest news.
“My idea is the same: if we can sign one player to help us, it’s good for us.”
Suarez could make his Arsenal debut on Sunday against his old side Manchester City.
