Following the nullification of Embakasi South parliamentary elections, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has presented a direct ticket to Julius Mawathe for the April 5, by-election.
While calling on voters to turn up in large numbers, Mr. Kalonzo noted that it will be a gruesome political contest against its coalition partner Orange Democratic Movement ODM that has fielded Mohamed Sumra.

The former Vice President further urged employers to allow their staff within the constituency participate in the by-election to help boost Wiper’s chances of winning.
The seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court on December 21, 2018 nullified the election of Mawathe on grounds that he was not validly elected.
Last week, a section of Jubilee MPs also came out to endorse Mr. Mawathe.
The MPs; Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Charles Njagua (Starehe), George Theuri (Embakasi West) and Simon Mbugua (East African Legislative Assembly) said they picked Mawathe as their party, Jubilee, is not fielding a candidate.
