What Manchester United boss weighs in on Fred

Manchester United midfielder Fred has struggled to adapt to life at the club since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk with his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comparing his situation with former teammates Diego Forlan and Juan Sebastian Veron.

Manchester United acquired the services of Fred for £52 million from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer but the Brazillian has started three Premier League games in the last four months and failed to make two of Solskjaer’s eight matchday squads.

Veron joined United in a then club-record £28.1million move in 2001 and Forlan arrived from Independiente for £6.9m six months later.

Solskjaer admitted that it’s only a matter of time till Fred starts performing, “There’s loads of players that have come in and found the first few months difficult. One of the best players I’ve played with that struggled the most was Diego Forlan. Veron [is another] you know, those two fantastic players and it took a bit of time. But when they settled they performed.”
